A woman opened fire at YouTube’s headquarters near San Francisco on Tuesday, wounding at least three people before taking her own life, as employees of the video website scrambled into the surrounding streets for safety.
Police believe the suspect is in the YouTube shooting is dead. And they say she was a woman.
SOUNDBITE (English) SAN BRUNO POLICE CHIEF ED BARBARINI SAYING:
“We have four victims who have all been transported for gunshot related injuries. We have one suspect who’s deceased with a self inflicted gunshot wound. At this point we believe it’s the shooter but we’re following up on that.”
Around lunch time tuesday Police responded to an active shooter at the headquarters of YouTube in San Bruno, California.
Witnesses described seeing blood on the floor and stairs and casualties were reported.
As news of the shooting broke, authorities in the city south of San Francisco warned people to stay away from the address where YouTube, which is owned by Google, is based.
A YouTube product manager described on his Twitter feed hearing people running, first thinking it was an earthquake before he was told that a person had a gun.
Aerial footage from the scene showed a massive police presence, with cops patting down employees to search for weapons as they were evacuated.
Local Hospitals are treating the victims for injuries. So far, police say the only confirmed death is the shooter herself.#
