Hundreds of thousands of protesters have turned out in force in the capital of Caracas, calling for an end to the presidency of Nicolas Maduro.
The crowds defied police to take to the streets, bringing the city to a standstill.
Many came out in support of opposition leader Juan Guaido, who made an appearance to chants of “President, President!”.
Guaido made a direct challenge to Maduro’s government, declaring himself as the country’s interim president.
