‘We are not going to give any president … a blank check to shred the constitution of the United States’, House speaker Nancy Pelosi says before Congress passed a resolution to block Donald Trump from declaring a national emergency as a means to build a barrier along the southern border. The motion passed passed by 245 votes to 182, with 13 Republicans joining with Democrats. It will next go to the Senate, which has just over two weeks to bring it to the floor
