A video showing U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez featuring in a college dance video has triggered a political storm online.
The video was reportedly posted on Twitter on Wednesday, Jan 2 by an anonymous user whose account has since been deleted.
The caption read “Here is America’s favourite commie know-it-all acting like the clueless nitwit she is….”.
The video, which was made when Ocasio-Cortez was an undegraduate at Boston University, might have been initially intended to discredit the youngest U.S. Congresswoman, but has instead received a flurry of support.
She responded by uploading a 2019 version. She tweeted, “I hear the GOP thinks women dancing are scandalous. Wait till they find out Congresswomen dance too!”
Cortez was sworn-in on Thursday, Jan 3.
