Theresa May stands by her Brexit deal in House of Commons

Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to make a statement to the UK House of Commons on the draft Brexit deal at 10.30am approx.

Theresa May’s Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab today resigned claiming Britain is being “blackmailed” by the EU – leaving the PM’s job hanging by a thread.

He said he couldn’t support her Brexit deal because it would give Brussels a “veto” over the UK’s future.

Mr Raab told The Sun: “I don’t want to submit to the blackmail of my country.”

And in his resignation letter, he warned: “I cannot in good conscience support the terms proposed for our deal with the EU.”

But he insisted he has “enduring respect” for Mrs May and praised the PM for fighting through “difficult times”.

He is the second Brexit Secretary to quit in just four months – after David Davis walked out in protest at the PM’s Chequers plans.
