Lawmakers scuffled with soldiers wearing riot gear at a roadblock at a tunnel about 100 kilometers along the main road to Colombia, forcing several buses to stop.
Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido left Caracas with about 80 lawmakers on Thursday, Feb. 21, and headed for the Colombian border, where they hope to receive humanitarian aid. President Nicolas Maduro has prevented the aid from entering the country and threatened to close the border.
Lawmakers said some vehicles managed to pass through the tunnel after being stuck for several hours, but other buses remained behind. (Reuters).
