Sudden downpour of rain fell as Senator John McCain’s casket escorted into Capitol

On a hot, sultry day in the U.S. capital on Friday, members of the military somberly carried the flag-covered casket of Senator John McCain. A sudden downpour of rain fell as the casket emerged from the hearse and was escorted up the Capitol steps. The sudden outburst seemed to taper off as they entered the doors of the rotunda where the senator was to lie in state. Ordinary citizens were among those who paid their respects to the Arizona Republican, as will his longtime congressional colleagues.
