Sandra Day O’Connor announces dementia diagnosis

The first woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court and President Ronald Reagan’s first nominee for the high court, Sandra Day O’Connor, announced she is in the early stages of what is likely Alzheimer’s disease. O’Connor, 88, served on the court from 1981 to 2006. She was often considered a swing vote on the high court.
