U.S. President Donald Trump defended his performance at a Helsinki meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and took aim at the media and a handful of prominent Democrats during a ‘Make America Great Again’ rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on Thursday (August 2).
Trump described the media as “horrendous” and “disgusting.” The White House on Thursday said the media did not adequately cover a rally Trump held in Florida earlier in the week.
In Wilkes-Barre, the president again defended his handling of a summit with Russian president Vladimir Putin that was widely criticized by Democrats as well as fellow Republicans.
“They wanted me to go up and have a boxing match. I said, whatever happened to diplomacy?” Trump told the crowd.
