Nicolas Maduro proposed on Saturday bringing forward parliamentary elections to this year, in an attempt to crush the threat posed by the National Assembly’s head, Juan Guaido, as tens of thousands in Caracas demanded Maduro relinquish power — with some prepared to “die” for democracy.
