Lava wipes out Hawaii neighborhoods as eruptions continue – Daily Mail

The neighborhood of Vacationland was completely covered in lava and nearby Kapoho was almost entirely destroyed in just 48 hours as the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii continues to erupt. Kapoho Bay, around which the neighborhoods used to sit, has also been entirely filled with molten rock so that it now juts out into the sea, instead of sitting back from the coastline. The image on the left shows the extent of the destruction on June 3, while the image on the right shows the same area on June 5. Kilauea began erupting on May 3 and is still spewing ash and lava.
