Britain gears up for Brexit vote

An MP from Britain’s opposition Labour party, Hilary Benn, is withdrawing his House of Commons amendment to reject Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit agreement with the European Union. British MPs are preparing to vote today on whether to back May’s deal. The so-called ‘meaningful vote’ will take place tonight, as five days of debate on Brexit comes to an end. May has called for politicians to back her deal, or risk letting the British people down. But, with many of her own MPs expected to join opposition parties to vote against the deal, it is widely expected to be defeated. Britain is to leave the EU at the end of March.
