he walkable waterfront hamlet of Apalachicola, founded in 1831 on Apalachicola Bay, is shrouded in overcast on Tuesday (10/9/18) as Hurricane Michael makes its approach into the Florida Panhandle. The town, which is home to oyster boats and shrimp boats which make their daily pilgrimages into the seafood-rich bay, is now in the landfall zone after the storm formed off the coast of Cuba early Monday carrying predictions of a major Category 3 landfall in the Florida Panhandle.
