The US president’s former campaign manager has pleaded guilty to two criminal charges, as part of a deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
Paul Manafort has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy against the US and conspiracy to obstruct justice.
In return, 10 criminal counts against him have been dropped.
The White House issued a statement saying that Manafort’s guilty plea had “nothing to do with [Donald Trump]”, but Manafort is the latest and highest-profile witness to strike a deal with Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in 2016 US presidential election.
